How will the cost of La Crosse Financials CS/400 compare to the cost of the 5250/2e/green screen version?
Pricing is based on your server's processor type as well as any existing contracted pricing from Synon or Sterling. You can email your server specifications to sales@lacrossesoftware.com or call 608-784-8400.
What are the minimum system requirements for La Crosse Financials CS/400?
The AS/400 meets minimum system requirements for the server side of the equation. The AS/400 would have to be equipped with a network card. The client side requires Windows 2000 Server (or greater) connected via network or peer-to-peer arrangement. This requires hubs and cat5 cabling. Windows XP workstations are sufficient. See La Crosse Nextgen Minimum System Requirements.
What user training or re-training is required to migrate to La Crosse Financials CS/400?
Very little in terms of Financials functionality because it is similar. It does provide, in some areas, a substantial expansion of the 5250 facilities. Customers may need some introduction as how to operate a GUI environment, but more importantly how to integrate the use of La Crosse Financials CS/400 within a GUI environment to gain the most from the re-investment. We emphasize this is an evolutionary change in terms of system functionality, yet a revolutionary change in terms of the environment. Most training / retraining is for reporting tools, screen layout, connectivity, etc. Please note the systems coexist using the same data therefore your migration costs, both hard and soft, are minimized. We have also priced the re-license fee to include a week-long (4 business days with travel) training course to ease both the evolutionary and revolutionary aspects of this migration. This time is also useful insuring you're using the full functionally of the system regardless of the changes.
Are there areas where system performance has been enhanced with La Crosse Financials CS/400?
There should be no noticeable changes in batch processing speeds at this time. Our efforts have obviously been geared towards La Crosse Financials CS/400. Upon release we will focus our development efforts toward performance enhancements. La Crosse International and La Crosse Management Systems is a software development group that has never been happy with simply releasing a product. La Crosse Financials 2e works just fine. Why invest in La Crosse Financials CS/400?
The following is from our lead developer, "I would say the main advantage to the GUI system is access to information. For instance, the fact that a grid (or sub file in 5250 terms) can be any width and is customizable, in terms of resequencing and resizing fields, is a tremendous advantage for organizations with many operators performing the same function." Each operator is able to have his or her own custom screen. Added to this is the linking of panels many of which can be open at the same time. For example, all levels of an Accounts Payable entry are displayed at the same time, on the same screen and are automatically refreshed based upon the entry highlighted. A common complaint with the 5250 version is that although the information is held by the system often many panels have to be visited to find that information. The Personal Ledger Inquiry has been revised so that all panels can be open at the same time and all data for an entity can be seen on the same screen. The ability to use common off the shelf data extraction tools is a tremendous advantage over the 5250 version. Using your Microsoft Office tools and Crystal Reports allows not only greater access to the data, but added flexibility for email, graphing, etc. By migrating to La Crosse Financials CS/400, you immediately make available the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) functions from our U.S. product La Crosse Nextgen. These ERP functions are seamlessly integrated with La Crosse Financials CS/400. More information on these functions can be seen at: http://www.lacrossesoftware.com/nextgen.html.
